South Asian Today is Australia's first media start-up for South Asian women and non-binary peoples.
Being founded in so-called Australia, we pay our respects to the traditional owners of the land - past, present and emerging. Sovereignty was never ceded. 5-10% of any money raised by us is donated to the Indigenous Literacy Foundation as our rent for living and working on stolen land.
South Asian Today does not have any sponsors and runs on the labour of South Asian peoples. To support us, you can make a donation here. You can also shop a print from our store or buy us a coffee to help us continue. Every print you purchase helps us pay our artists and writers.
We create financial opportunities for South Asian creatives, journalists, and storytellers.
Born out of lack of representation for our narratives, South Asian Today believes in independent journalism and highlights stories with a focus on race, gender, politics, caste, class, health and media representation.
We are aware that many South Asian spaces online can be India-Bindi-Chai centric. South Asian Today wants to break that cycle and push for narratives where South Asia is seen beyond hegemony.
Subscribe to our free newsletter "The Round-Up" to receive South Asian stories you won't find anywhere else every Monday.
